About Us

The Effective Teaching & Learning Network has been working successfully with teachers since early 1989 in the development of effective teaching and learning strategies.

The Network provides training and professional development for classroom, middle and senior leaders at primary, secondary and FE level. Its focus is on how teachers teach and especially on how students learn. ETLN has remained focused on its core values which are key in raising standards and school improvement.

In recent years much has been discovered about the brain and learning. These new findings include accelerated learning, multiple intelligences and emotional intelligences. They are

popular in schools and are finding their way into classrooms. Our courses incorporate these recent findings. The Network however does take a pragmatic approach to learning in our schools and has devised courses which hit at the heart of current issues. Many courses are generic and are for personal, classroom and school improvement. All are now delivered in house.

In addition to good input we endeavour to build time into the courses for teachers to interact with each other and the trainer. Group sizes are restricted to ensure this. Improvement of courses and needs have been identified by three simple questions. What did you like? what didn't you like? and what would you like next time? A recent delegate was amazed that the trainer got to know the names, the schools, the specific needs of all the delegates and used it during the day. The training is geared to be interactive.

The Network is led by Chris Haines who was one of its co-founders. He is a highly respected trainer and has a wide portfolio of experience.

In recent years the Network has expanded its activity work with schools internationally and welcomes enquiries from international schools in Europe and the rest of the world.
